Alissa Hunnicutt has been performing her whole life. She grew up singing in choir and the theater and is a member of the Actor’s Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA. She holds a Bachelor of Music from The University of Iowa, and a Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music in vocal performance.
She’s an accomplished puppeteer, having performed in a variety of puppetry styles since 2005. Her primary training has been at the National Puppetry Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. For several years she was the resident staff puppeteer at Mount Sinai Children’s Hospital in NYC, hosting live closed-circuit television gameshows and leading puppet building workshops with the patients and their families as part of the Child Life Department’s KidZoneTV.
Alissa has made a name for herself in the ukulele festival circles as a singer/storyteller alternative folk artist. She combines her acting and musical training to bring new life to songs with her thoughtful ukulele arrangements.
Alissa currently resides in Burbank, CA, though still very often found in New York City. Alissa Hunnicutt is endorsed by Ohana Ukuleles.
